The short answer
Paste a public link — TikTok, Instagram Reels or post, or a direct MP3/MP4 file URL — and the server matches a 15-second audio snippet against a music database. You get the song's title and artist, and listening links when available.
What counts as a usable link
- Public TikTok videos, including
vm.tiktok.comandvt.tiktok.comshort links. - Public Instagram Reels and posts.
- Direct MP3 or MP4 file URLs — the address of an audio or video file itself.
What is refused
- Douyin, and platforms other than the ones listed above — rejected by design before any request is sent.
tiktok.com/t/…share links.- Anything you cannot link to publicly.
Why a match can fail
Recognition is not magic; it needs music in the snippet. If the 15 seconds you captured are mostly speech, applause or wind, there is nothing for the database to match. Set a start time where the track is clearly audible and try again. Very new or very niche tracks may also be missing from the database.
Limits
- Media up to 10 minutes and 100 MB.
- A small number of recognitions per address every 10 minutes.
- No video is stored, no audio is stored, and no download is offered.
