The core difference
- SongFinder works from a link. You paste the URL of a public TikTok, Instagram Reels, or direct audio/video file, and the server reads a 15-second snippet of the media itself.
- A phone app listens to the room. It captures live sound through a microphone — useful for music playing nearby, which this tool cannot do.
When this is the better fit
- The song is inside a link you can copy — a Reel, a TikTok, a file.
- You are on a desktop and do not want to reach for a phone.
- You want the result as text: title, artist, listening links.
- You would rather not give an app microphone access.
When the app is still better
- The music is playing in the room and you have nothing to link to.
- You want to hum, sing or whistle a tune. This tool does not use a microphone and cannot do that.
- You need recognition while offline.
How to use it
1Copy the linkA public TikTok, Instagram Reels or post, or a direct MP3/MP4 URL.
2Paste and recogniseOptionally set a start time where the music is clearest.
3Read the answerTitle, artist and official listening links, when available.
No account, no microphone permission, no install. The recognition is done on a short snippet server-side, and the snippet is removed right after it is used.
Limits
- Accepted links only: TikTok, Instagram Reels/posts, direct MP3/MP4 files.
- Media up to 10 minutes and 100 MB.
- A small number of recognitions per address every 10 minutes.
- No microphone, no humming, no downloads.
